The Problem with Balance-Only Gating

Most token gating tools check one thing: "Does this person hold X tokens right now?"

But that tells you nothing about conviction.

Someone could buy 10,000 tokens, get access to your alpha channel, screenshot everything, then dump 5 minutes later. They still had "10,000 tokens" when they verified.

Balance checks are a snapshot. Conviction is a story.

What Is Conviction Gating?

Conviction gating means you don't just check what someone holds — you check how long they've held it.

1. OG Holders (Held 90+ Days)

Goal: Reward people who've been holding since the early days.

• Holding period: 90+ days

Why it works: Filters out everyone who bought in the last 3 months.

2. Whale Tier (10k+ Held 30+ Days)

Goal: Identify serious long-term holders with skin in the game.

• Minimum balance: 10,000 tokens

• Holding period: 30+ days

• Role: "Whale" or "Diamond Whale"

3. Diamond Hands Club (No Sales in 60+ Days)

Goal: Find people who never sell, no matter what.

• Minimum balance: 5,000 tokens

• Holding period: 60+ days with no outbound transactions

• Role: "Diamond Hands"

4. Active Traders (Bought in Last 7 Days)

Goal: Engage people who just bought in.

• Minimum balance: 1,000 tokens

• Holding period: Bought within the last 7 days

• Role: "New Holder"

Mixing Balance + Conviction

Example multi-tier setup:

• Holder: 1,000 tokens (no time requirement) — Basic access

• Veteran: 1,000 tokens held for 30+ days — Mid-tier channels

• Diamond: 5,000 tokens held for 60+ days — VIP access
